Psalm 45:1

My heart is overflowing with a good theme;

I recite my composition to the King;

My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

Our Vision

Foster Community. Inspire Artistry. Promote Unity.

Foster Community: We believe community is an essential part of thriving life. We desire to create a welcoming space through hospitality and genuine interactions

.

Inspire Artistry: We believe good community encourages good art. By creating an environment conducive to healthy community, we desire to create an environment useful for the nurturing, producing, and displaying of excellent art.

Promote Unity: There are so many things in life which can be divisive. We believe good community and good art can bridge some of those gaps and help us relate to one another. In truly getting to know one another on a personal level and connecting over a piece of art, we can begin to have difficult conversations in a respectful and kind way that takes into account the person you are talking to not just their difference in opinion.

A Note on the Importance of Words

Words matter.  What we say and how we say them are of equal importance.  Truth without beauty is a battering ram.  Beauty without truth is a poisonous flower.  God created language and words to communicate to us and us to communicate to Him and each other.  God spoke the world into being.  His words brought life and His word (the Bible) brings life to this very day.  Our desire here at Room 45-1 is to bring life with our words.  To "spur one another on towards love and good works," as the writer in Hebrews says.  To edify one another and point each other to the goodness and faithfulness of God.  "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers," Ephesians 4:29.  As Jesus prayed for us in John chapter 17, we pray this will be a place where we might be unified and one in Christ.  Paul says, "Therefore whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God," 1 Corinthians 10:31.  We hope to display whether in writing stories or doing the dishes or eating a meal or going to church or working in a fast-food restaurant, in the ordinary and the extraordinary things in life, we are made to glorify God.  As stated in the Westminster Confessions, "The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever".
